About Torrey Highlands

Torrey Highlands is a community in San Diego, California that covers over 1,000 acres. Residents are close to schools, recreation, shopping, and entertainment.

Torrey Highlands is mostly a residential community that was developed starting in 2000. About 30 percent of this land has been reserved for parks, trails, and open spaces. It is bordered by Black Mountain Ranch, Del Mar Mesa, Rancho Penasquitos, Pacific Highlands Ranch, and Fairbanks Ranch.

The Poway Unified School District provides highly ranked facilities like Willow Grove Elementary, Black Mountain Middle School, and Westview High School. There are hundreds of private institutions like the Calvary Christian Academy, Escondido Adventists Academy, the Montessori American School, and Halstrom Academy. Public universities include the University of California (UCSD) and San Diego State University (SDSU) as well as the San Diego Community College District.

There are many recreational venues including the Torrey Highlands Dog Park and the Los Penasquitos Canyon Reserve. To the north you’ll find the Del Mar Country Club, the Rancho Santa Fe Farms Golf Club and the Black Mountain Open Space which covers over 2,000 acres of ridges, canyons, and sage chaparral covered hills. It’s also a short drive to the beaches as well as Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve which covers 2,000 acres of wilderness and protected land.

San Diego is California’s second largest city and the nation’s eighth. Its economy relies on tourism, manufacturing, international trade, and military defense related activities. This city is known for the San Diego Zoo as well as museums like the San Diego Air & Space Museum.
